Tinkr is a Birmingham-based production company developing original film, television, and digital-first IP. Founded by writer-director Omari McCarthy, the company was born from a belief that storytelling is more than just entertainment. Our work fuses genre storytelling with social realism, exploring identity, technology, and the invisible systems that shape our lives.
Mission
Our mission is to build a home for underrepresented voices and authentic stories from the Midlands that can travel the world. We champion projects that provoke emotion and spark conversation, stories that entertain, challenge, and leave a cultural impact.
Vision
Our vision is to establish the West Midlands as a global hub for boundary-pushing storytelling, a place where bold ideas, and cinematic craft converge. We aim to grow Tinkr into a creative ecosystem that develops world-class IP while nurturing emerging talent.
About Omari McCarthy
Omari is a Writer-Director from Birmingham, West Midlands. He directed JAMIE JOHNSON FC series 4 (CBBC), JAMIE’S TREETOP TALES (Sky Kids), and served as 2nd Unit Director on JUST ACT NORMAL (The Forge / BBC Three). He was Shadow Director on SILENT WITNESS, DOCTORS, MALORY TOWERS, JUSTIN'S HOUSE and THE HAIRDRESSER MYSTERIES.

He has written for children’s animated series; PJ MASKS,
JOJO & GRAN GRAN, LOVE MONSTER, TIM REX IN SPACE, and live action series DOG SQUAD, NEWTON AVENUE, JUSTIN’S HOUSE, BIFF & CHIP, and JAMIE JOHNSON FC.

He spent 10+ years in animation production management on 2D & CG series such as MR BEAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES (ITVX), HEY DUGGEE (Cbeebies), DENNIS & GNASHER: UNLEASHED (CBBC), 101 DALMATIANS STREET (Disney+), THE TIGER WHO CAME TO TEA (Channel 4), SWALLOWED STAR (Netflix), and high-end CG cinematics for K/DA “MORE”, HALO INFINITE, MAGIC THE GATHERING and was Production Manager on KITTI KATZ (Netflix).

He holds a BA (Hons) in Digital Animation & VFX from Falmouth University, which he completed in 2013.
